Karen L. Sellenraad, ASID, NCIDQ is a second generation Interior Designer with over 20 years experience in Luxury Residential and Commercial Interior Design. She is NCIDQ Certified since 1989 and is a Florida Registered Interior Designer #ID5262. She was the principal of her own firm for 15 years in Metro Detroit. Because of the recession, Karen moved to Florida in 2005 but is back in Michigan to be with family. Karens specialty is highly customized, personalized Magazine Quality Interior Design, also Destination Design, Color Specialties, Color Psychology, and Interior Detailing (Millwork Drawings, Ornamental Detailing), and the design and manufacture of custom furniture.
Karen works in all periods and styles including Florida Style, Mediterranean, Spanish, Modern, English, French, Transitional, and has won awards for Historic Preservation. She works hard to help the client refine their own design style and preferences. My work is client driven, I believe their home should reflect their tastes, needs, and desires. Their offices should say who they are through design.
Karen Sellenraad, studied Interior Design at Michigan State University, Delta College, and Baker College. She is continually studying Green Design Issues such as Sustainable Design and Alternative Energy Usage. Her work has been published in Metro Detroits Style Magazine, Impulse/Panache Magazine, Kitchen and Bath Business, Oakland Press, Schoolcraft College, Health Business News, the Pelican Press, and Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
For fun, Karen likes to make jewelry, ride horses (dressage), dance, theater, sailing, and loves nature trails with her Shih Tzu, Tolstoy.
